As a kind of commentary to the words of Dariusz Libionka the editor-in-chief of the "Holocaust Studies and Materials" journal, we would like to remind you of a review of the latest issue by prof. Grzegorz Motyka, which appeared in "Gazeta Wyborcza" some time ago. Like the author of the review, we are against manual manipulation of the rating. We would only want our yearbook to be scored according to the Ministry's guidelines.
Grzegorz Motyka
It is a shame that the number of points for publications in the Holocaust yearbook has not yet been increased
The previous government lowered it solely for political-ideological reasons.
"(...) Just before Christmas, the 20th anniversary issue of the annual "Holocaust Studies and Materials" was published. The girthy, almost 900-page volume, as usual, brings interesting results of the latest research on the largest genocide that took place on Polish soil. The only regret is that this effort of a handful of scientists is still not appreciated by the Ministry of Science.
(...) for ideological and political reasons, the Ministry awarded the journal barely 20 points. Recall that not only the promotion of scientists themselves, but also the evaluation of scientific institutions depends on the number of points earned for publications. This means, in practice, that submitting articles to "Holocaust Studies and Materials" has become unprofitable in recent years, which - considering the high standards of this journal - is grossly unfair.
I am opposed to making further changes to the scoring of journals in this evaluation cycle, ending in 2025. However, this should not apply to "Holocaust Studies and Materials", because in this case we are dealing with a politically motivated decision to artificially lower the scoring. It is shameful that the Minister of Science has not yet corrected this injustice."
