Abstract
Byłem wtedy szeregowym, niewiele znaczącym członkiem konspiracyjnej organizacji w getcie łódzkim Lewica Związkowa (założonej przez byłych członków polskiej partii komunistycznej. Przywódczynią była Zula Pacanowska , szlachetny człowiek. Mogła zostać ocalona z wywózki do Chełmna we wrześniu 1942 r., ale podejrzewała, że na jej miejsce wyznaczą kogoś innego, i dlatego wywieziona została już wtedy do komory gazowej. Wstyd i hańba, że tak świetlana postać, zasłużona niezmiernie w organizacji ruchu oporu, została „zdekomunizowana”: pozbawiono ją należnej jej nazwy ulicy na Bałutach – tam, gdzie było getto) .
Już po wojnie spotykałem często członkinię ścisłego kierownictwa naszej podziemnej organizacji, Basię Hindę Beatus . Od niej wiem, dlaczego moje losy w ostatnich dniach getta potoczyły się tak, jak się potoczyły, oczywiście nie tylko moje ...
