Abstract
Dwudziestego czwartego października 1940 roku Marszalek Francji Philippe Pétain powiedział w wywiadzie radiowym po spotkaniu z Fuhrerem Trzeciej Rzeszy Adolfem Hitlerem: „Rozważana jest możliwość współpracy miedzy naszymi krajami. Wstępnie wyraziłem zgodę”. I od tego momentu datować należy genezę pojęcia kolaboracji jako terminu określającego zjawisko współpracy z okupantem -- rodzaj zdrady uprawianej otwarcie i uzasadnionej jako wybór mniejszego zła. Co ciekawe, gdy zajrzymy do encyklopedii i słowników angielskich, włoskich, francuskich, albo niemieckich to się okaże, że pojęcie kolaboracji używane jest w tym znaczeniu, ściśle biorąc, dla określenia sytuacji zaistniałej pod okupacją hitlerowską i weszło do języków europejskich dopiero po drugiej wojnie światowej.
